How to Get a Copy of Your Cosmetologist License
If you have lost or damaged your cosmology license, you'll need to get a replacement as soon as possible. As a professional cosmetologist, displaying your license proves that you are authorized to practice your profession. In many states, cosmetologist are required to clearly display their license in their working area.
What You'll Need:
- Computer with access to the Internet
- Renewal fee
- Renewal application
- Open your preferred search engine and visit the website for your local State Board of Cosmetology. If you are unsure of the exact name of the agency, you'll need to conduct some research in order to do so.
- Once you've found the homepage of your local agency, navigate to the section of the website where you can download an application. Once you've found the application, select the option to "duplicate" your existing cosmetology license. Depending on your state, you may be required to use a "renewal" application to do so.
- If your state application allows you to complete this step online, completely fill out the application with all the required information. However, if your state does not allow you to complete the application online you'll need to print the application out. Completely fill out all the required information including your license type.
- If you were allowed to complete the application online, you'll need to include your credit card information for payment and submit your application to complete this step. If you were not allowed to do so, mail the application to the specified address and include your renewal fee along with it.
