How to Give Your Wardrobe a Makeover

Updating your wardrobe can be exciting, or it can be challenging. It’s always a good idea to incorporate new pieces into your closet to have a stylish and updated look. Use stylish appearances of others as inspiration for your own. With a little preparation and knowledge about clothing, you can update your appearance in no time.

  1. Research the latest styles and trends. Several fashion magazines, blogs and websites have inspirational ideas to look at. Consider clipping or printing your favorite looks to compose a style bible you can consult. Choose outfits you think you might look good in, but be willing to incorporate a new trend, as well.

  2. Pay special attention to articles and blogs about choosing the right clothing for your body shape. There are also several television shows that are devoted to teaching a woman what to wear.

  3. Evaluate what you already own. Toss out anything seriously out-of-date, ill-fitting or damaged. Keep a short list in your fashion bible of the pieces you wish you had. Keep these in mind when you are shopping.

  4. Invest in a classic piece every year or two. Something that is timeless and doesn’t go out of style, such as a crisp white shirt.

  5. Bring in trends and the latest fashions with accessories. That way you can look modern without investing in wardrobe pieces only to be worn a few times. Layered necklaces and tied scarves are an inexpensive way to freshen pieces you own.

  6. Incorporate a bit of your personality in clothing choices. Vintage or consignment shops are great options because the fashions are unique.
