How to Have Unique Baby Shower Decorations

Come up with unique baby shower decorations by working with clever themes and either making or purchasing your decorations. Choose cool shower decorations by staying in tune with the expectant mother's personality and the type of guests that will attend your shower. Add neat party favors to your decorating list. You can sit back, relax and enjoy the baby shower once you find and decorate with your creative theme.

  1. Choose clever and unique themes. Base your theme for the baby shower off of the expectant mother's personality. Keep the sex of the baby in mind, if you know it. Refrain from making the baby shower too girly-girly if you plan to invite males to your party. Create themes by turning to the time of year you plan to host the shower. You can spice up a summer baby shower by decorating with beach towels, beach balls, colorful sea shells and a collector's pail.

  2. Make handmade decorations for your baby shower. Gather together a group of friends or family member who will attend the shower. Give each of them something to make; or, allow them to choose what they want to create. For example, collect up the seashells you plan on using for a beach baby shower theme. Spread the shells out on a table. Place items on the table you may want to decorate the sea shells with. You can include glue, glitter and paint. Let pre-party guests decorate the shells. The expectant mother will light up at the thought level that went into these homemade decorations.

  3.  Purchase store-bought baby shower decorations at warehouse stores, drug stores and party-supply stores. You can arrange your store-bought items with the same care in mind as you could handmade designs. Choose items that revolve around your overall theme. For example, you can buy cute beach chairs and shell collecting buckets and set them up before the baby shower.

  4. Create handmade party favors; or, purchase unique ones if you don't have the time to make your baby shower decorations. Order a favor such as a unique pink or blue candle for your party favors. Your guest can use the candle as a decoration long after the baby shower.
