How to Improve Conditioning for Boxing Training

Boxing is a physical sport, and it requires excellent conditioning to be successful. If you become fatigued in the middle of a fight, you will lose. The fighter in better condition almost always wins. You can improve your conditioning for boxing training by following a couple of quick and easy steps.

  • Buy a notebook or journal. You will need to write down every exercise that you do. Make sure that you include how long you did did each exercise and how many repetitions you completed.

  • Study your routine and see how you can train harder. Closely follow your routine and you will know where improvement is needed. Each day should show that you worked out harder.

  • Complete more repetitions and train for longer periods of time. This will guarantee that you will improve your conditioning. Your body will get used to more extreme conditioning and it will not become fatigued as easily.

  • Make sure that you have the correct diet. Many boxers have terrible diets and this prevents them from conditioning well. Make sure that you drink 8 or more glasses of water every day. Before you exercise, drink an energy drink and eat lots of carbohydrates. This will make sure that you body has enough fuel in it to train harder.

  • Sleep at least 10 hours at night. Your body will not be able to last consecutive days of conditioning if it is not able to rest. It will eventually slow down and will not allow any extreme conditioning.

  • Turn on high energy music during your workouts.  Salsa, merengue, bachata, rap, rock, techno or electronic music are great for giving you energy.  They tend to have beats and rhythms that make people want to move.
