How to Set Up a Hydroponic Grow Room

How to Increase the Humidity in a Grow Room

If you have found it difficult to grow plants indoors the problem is more than likely due to not having enough humidity in the room where you are placing the plants. The best way to solve this problem is to increase the humidity.

Growing a plant indoors requires a certain amount of humidity in a room. If a plant does not have enough humidity it will wither and die. The desired amount of humidity in a room should be approximately 60 percent because anything lower than that will pull water from the soil and the leaves of the plant. There are several things you can do to make sure the plant is getting the amount of humidity it needs to prosper.

  • Place all your plants together in the same room and group them together according to their watering needs. This is recommended because when water is evaporated from one plant the plant sitting next to it can absorb it.

  • Lower the temperature in the room to the lowest possible setting that will not affect the growth of the plant. When the temperature of a grow room is too hot the water evaporates into the air, which will eventually dry out the soil of the plant.

  • Placing a humidifier in the room will increase the humidity by increasing the moisture in the air. If you do not have a humidifier you can hang some wet paper towels on a string and secure them with clothespins. You will need to rewet them when they dry out.

  • Place some damp peat moss around the pot of the plant. After the moss dries it should be replaced.
