How to Set Up a Hydroponic Grow Room
Hydroponics can be defined as the cultivation of plants in water. Nutrients are applied to growing mix through the water supply. It is a way for home gardeners to grow food for themselves in small spaces. There are many ways to set up a hydroponics grow room, but you will need to have the basics in order to get started.
Set Up Your Hydroponic System
The key is to set up a way for the nutrients to drip into the growing mixture (soil) . Then the nutrient solution will drain out through holes into some sort of reservoir. The process will then repeat itself. Although there are many ways to create this type of system, try using plastic containers of the desired size and drilling holes into one and placing it on top of the other. This is a quick homemade way to set up your system without spending too much money on the materials. It is also easier to set the system on top of a table for easy access.
Purchase a Grow Light Kit
A grow light can usually be purchased at any hydroponic shop in your area. Unlike using a regular lamp, the grow light is used to mimic the light spectrum from the sun. Be sure to ask the store clerk any questions you may have on how to use your grow light and follow the set up directions so that everything will work properly.
Place a Fan in the Room
The fan will simply be used to provide air movement into the room. If the plants were outside, the wind would provide them with air movement that would allow the plant stems to grow strong against the resistance.
Obtain a Climate Controller
Keep track of the room’s temperature, humidity and pressure of the room with a climate controller.
