How to Install Remote Control Home Security
With crime rates increasing, home security is probably one of the most important priorities for you and your family. You can have a remote control security system installed in your home by hiring a reputable professional listed on MerchantCircle, or you can purchase and install one yourself if you know what you're doing.
1. Turn off the power supply before connecting your system. You can do this by turning off the breaker located in the breaker box of your home. This electrical box is usually located in the basement or a closet of your home.
2. Remove the security system from the packaging and check each component in the box. Depending on the specific system you purchased, you may have several different components. Be sure to read the instructions thoroughly before beginning to install your home security system.
3. Find the control board of the security system and connect it to a power line. You will also need to connect this control board to a telephone or cable connection. The control board is the unit that turns the system on and off.
4. Attach the door sensors to the entryways. Try to put these sensors in a non-conspicuous place like the top or bottom of the door. You will need to connect the cables from the sensors to the main control board.
5. Install the window sensors and test to make sure that they are working properly. Again, try to put these sensors on the top of the windows, where they are not noticeable. Once the sensors are installed on the windows, you will need to run the cables for the window sensors to the main control board.
6. Install two remote control panels. One should be in the master bedroom and one by the main door. Connect these panels to the main control board. These panels allow the system to be turned off and on by remote. You can also program remote buttons in your car to work with your home security system.
7. Check that the remote control panels are working properly. If everything has been installed properly, you will see the green light on the control panels blinking. If there is a problem, the red light will stay on. Double check all of your connections and try again.
8. Program key chains and car remotes to the main control board. Once these items are programmed properly, you can enjoy the luxuries of turning your home security system on and off from the comfort of your vehicle or from your keychain.
