How to Install Roof Flashing
Roof flashing is often used to connect additional roofs and to waterproof existing roofs. If you install this material correctly you will prevent future leaks and damage to your roof. If you are connecting more than one roof, it will provide a basis for replacing additional roofing materials down the road.
How to Install Roof Flashing:
Step 1: Measure the length and width of your roof. Add 10 to 15 percent to these figures then divide by 100 to determine overall square feet of your roof. If you are connecting more than one roof, measure the additional roof in the same manner.
Step 2: Purchase roof flashing using the measurements you arrived at in Step 1.
Step 3: Remove all old roofing materials from the roof. Repair any damaged plywood.
Step 4: Cut your roof flashing according to your measurements.
Step 5: Lay the roof flashing while lining up the middle section within the roof groves and/or valley groves.
Step 6: Secure the flashing with a staple gun using one inch staples.
Step 7: Install your choice of roofing materials according to the manufacturer's instructions
