How to Install a Boat Stereo
If you have a boat and would like to listen to some music while your on the lake enjoying your day it is easy to install one. It is a simple task to accomplish and you can be out on the lake in no time. You can also put the stero together when you are out on the lake.
Things you will need:
- Drill
- Drill bits
- Speaker wire
- Screwdriver
- Wire Cutters
- Marine Stereo Splash Cover
- Mounting Bracket
- Plastic cable 1-piece raceway, 3/4-inch by 1/2 inch, 5-foot lengths
- Get your drill and drill holes to mount the splash cover and allow the wire to pass from the power.
- Drill four holes. Two are for the mounting bolts, one is for the speaker wire and the other is for the power cord. Just make the holes large enough for the bolts to fit through them and for the wire to fit in them. You don't want to make them too large or too small.
- Attach the power cord to the power bus and tie the stereo to the power.
- Get your speaker wires and connect them to your stereo. You can do this by connecting them to your connectors and feed them through the hole in the mount that you already made.
- Get your cable raceways and lay them out on the deck of your boat. Have one go from the dash to the port side and the other one go from the dash to the starboard side of your boat. Then you will lay them out along the sides.
- Get your adhesive and put it over the bottom of the raceways, so know one can trip over the wires that are on the ground.
- Get the speakers and prepare to mount them. Find the best place for the speakers to be mounted. Most of the time the best location is about amidships.
- Get the speaker wires and attach them to the speaker.
- Test out the finished product. Make sure everything is working properly and fix anything that isn't. Now you can enjoy the rest of your day with some great music and friends out on the lake.
