How to Install a Bustle in Wedding Gowns
Most wedding dresses do not come with a bustle attached to them. It is what the bride uses to hold up the train of her dress and it must be added to fit the bride. It is something that can easily be done with a little sewing knowledge.
How to Install a Bustle in a Wedding Gown
- Choose the type of bustle you want to add to your gown. Take your time to view each style because you want to pick out one that will complement your dress.
- Decide if you are going to use hooks or buttons and make the purchase. You will also need some ribbon. Make sure the ribbon matches the color of the dress.
- Use small pins to mark the locations on the back of the gown where you want the buttons or hooks placed. Make sure they are in the proper place because the gown will be pulled up and attached to them.
- Try the gown on and pull the gown up and used pins to attach it to where you are planning on putting the hooks to make sure they are in the right place before sewing them in place.
- Take the dress off and mark the area where you pinned the gown up.
- Sew on the buttons or hooks in the marked locations on the gown.
- Attach the ribbon to the bustle points on the gown. The bustle points are where the gown will be pulled up and attached.
- Try on the gown to make sure the bustle points are even.
