How to Live on River Boats

How to Launch River Boats

For hundreds of years, people have gone to rivers and used watercraft in areas of depth which are safe. This allows for enjoyment of leisure activities in the water. Several states have created lists of accessible boat ramps by county with information concerning trailer use, ramp pavement and parking facilities.

Supplies:

  • Trailer with winch

  • Bow and stern rope lines

  • Motor vehicle with fitted trailer hitch

  1. Move equipment and gear from the motor vehicle onto the boat. These may include fishing equipment, cooler, water skiing equipment, beverages, clothing and food.

  2. Keep up with other motor vehicles when in a line of other riverboat launchers. Be conscious of other drivers and boats, remaining courteous and patient.

  3. Get the bow and stern lines ready for their cleats. Join the fenders to the gunnel. Take the stern tie down for it to attach to the trailer.

  4. Move the motor vehicle where the trailer will be deep enough in the water to separate the boat and trailer winch.

  5. Take off the boat’s bow from the trailer winch.

  6. Get in the boat and start the engine. Next, turn the engine to idle and move the boat to a docked area. Use the bow and stern ropes to tie it down from boat cleats to the dock cleats. If with somebody else, they must pull the motor vehicle with the trailer in a designated parking area.

  7. Park the motor vehicle and trailer with plenty of room for others to move on by you. Always keep the trailer straight.
