How to Lease Automotive Repair Tools

The tools required for most auto shops can be horribly expensive. Instead of purchasing them, many shops choose to lease automotive repair tools. This is a good way for a new shop to start establishing clients while they save money to purchase their own. It's also a good idea for anyone who doesn't want to deal with repairing the actual tools if something ends up breaking.

As our cars become more technologically advanced, the tools required for repair can become extremely costly. Instead of buying a lot of shops choose to lease the automotive repair tools they need. If you're in this boat leasing tools isn't difficult if you know how to do it.

  1. Start by ordering your credit report. If you are leasing the tools in your name you'll need to have a decent credit history. It's free to order your credit report once a year. You can choose to print them online or have them sent in the mail.

  2. Make a list of all the equipment you need. This will help you find vendors that have all the tools instead of having to go through several different vendors. A lot of vendors that specialize in leasing automotive repair tools will offer discounts if you're leasing multiple items.

  3. Find lease agents that will also offer installation for the larger equipment. Equipment like engine mounts and lifts will require professional installation, and this can get costly. Many vendors will offer this and tack it on to the price of the lease.

  4. Make sure the equipment you're looking at is up to date. Most states require calibration of certain tools. If the equipment doesn't meet the state's code you can be facing heavy fines and revocation of your license entirely.

  5. Find out about the warranties offered on the leased equipment. Not only do you want a warranty, you want a hassle free one. If you have to wait a week to get a piece of equipment inspected before the repair you can be losing money on potential customers. Find out what the terms of the warranties are before you make your final decision.
