How to Leave a Hostile Work Environment

If you love your job then leaving a hostile work environment can be very difficult. However, sometimes it is best for your safety and you health. You do not have to legally work in a hostile environment and there are ways to leave your hostile work environment.

Items Needed:

  • Letter of resignation

  1. Always keep track of issues that occur at your work. Your workplace has become hostile for a reason and it is important for you to keep track of the incidents that occur.

  2. Make a list of the reasons you want to leave the hostile work environment. Overtime, a hostile environment can cause a lot of stress on your mind and body, which can lead to health problems. A list can help you determine what has happened that makes your job so stressful and hostile.

  3. Talk to your manager or supervisor. If your up-line is not the reason for the hostility then you should feel okay talking to them about the situation. However, if you need to talk to another manager then you should do so.

  4. Turn in a resignation letter to your employer. There may come a point in time when the workplace is just too hostile and you need to leave. You can put in a request for resignation and let your employer know your decision to leave.

  5. Try to talk to your boss one more time to straighten things out. If the hostility just is not changing then it is time to move onto another job.
