How to Lower Satellite TV Rates

If you currently have satellite TV you may be paying too much. There are some ways that you can easily lower the rates of satellite television. Check with the company who provides service to see if they are currently offering any promotional deals, or change the provider if they offer a better rate.

1. Determine what services you currently have and what channels are included in the package you are subscribed to.


2. Analyze the current use of the channels within the package you have to determine if you watch all of the channels within the package.


3. Contact the company using the phone number listed on the bill for the satellite services received.


4. Downgrade the package you are signed up for if you do not utilize the extended channels that are included in the package by letting the customer service representative know that you would like to downgrade the current plan.


5. Ask the customer service representative if they are currently offering any promotional deals that you are eligible for. Let the representative know that you would like to lower the monthly bill amount any way possible.


6. Research other satellite providers in the area to see what the rates are for the services that you need. Check into any promotional deals that other satellite companies may be running that will offer a discount over the price you are currently paying.


7. Write down the rates of other satellite providers along with the name of the company for quick reference later.


8. Call the satellite company where you currently have service and let them know that you have found a better deal through a different satellite TV provider.


9. Ask if they will match the current price of the other provider for you. Many companies are willing to offer lower rates to maintain current customers.


10. Switch to the company that offers the lower rate if the current company is not willing to match the lower price that you have found through another satellite television provider.


11. Call the other company that offers lower rates and subscribe to service through that company at the promotional rate that is being offered.
