How to Make Cheap Clothes Look Expensive

There are many ways to make inexpensive clothes look great. It is not so much how much the clothes cost, as how you put them together. With a little bit of research and well-placed accessories, you will look like you spent a fortune. You can accomplish this with thrift store clothes or clothes form a big box store. It is all in how you present it.

No one will ever know the cost of your clothing. You could walk done the street in a Versace t-shirt that cost $300, but if you wear it with sweatpants and no jewelry, odds are no one is going to be looking at your shirt or care how much it cost. The way clothing looks is not so much about looking expensive as it is presenting yourself in a stylish way. If you want to look like a million bucks, you first need to feel like it. How you wear the clothes determines how expensive they look, so turn the volume up to high on your style meter and get busy.

  • Look through fashion magazines; get familiar with what is in style, where and how jewelry and other accessories are used.

  • Look at colors and pattern choices.

  • Check your own accessories. Look for items that work well with the chosen outfit.

  • Lay out the outfit with the accessories, to get an idea of how they look. Play with them and switch it up.

  • Purchase inexpensive scarves, shoes, hats or whatever else you come across to make the outfit pop.

  • Feel confident when you are out, you can be dressed head to toe in the latest most expensive outfit, but if you do not feel confident that is going to show.

  • Wear the clothes like they are expensive and they will look expensive.
