How to Make Christmas Gift Baskets
A basket full of special gifts makes a festive Christmas present. Recipients can enjoy the presents inside, as well as use the basket later. You can design the basket to reflect the interests of the recipient and also have fun making a beautiful gift.
Items Needed:
- Basket
- Gifts
- Red or green spray paint
- Ribbon and a bow
- Tissue paper
- Gift wrapping paper
- Cellophane
- String or twist tie
- Choose a theme. A theme gives your present greater interest and shows thoughtfulness. Tailor your theme to the recipient by keeping his interests and hobbies in mind. Possible themes include Movie Night, for the film buff; DYI Spa Day, for a new mother; and Coffee Break, for the caffeine fiend.
- Select the gifts. Keep the size of your basket in mind when selecting the gifts; you don't want anything to big to fit in it. Follow your theme, selecting large and small presents. For example, choose golf balls, tees and towels for the golf fanatic; paints, brushes and small canvases for the artist; or poker chips, cards and snacks for the poker player.
- Prepare the basket. Make your gift say Christmas with a decorated basket. Paint a plain one with red or green spray paint. Wrap the handle with ribbon. Place tissue paper in the bottom and around the sides for a finishing touch.
- Arrange the gifts. Place larger presents on the bottom and tuck small ones around the large ones. You want the presents to be visible; so do not pack them too tightly. For extra interest and mystery, gift wrap a few items.
- Wrap the basket. Put the basket in the middle of a large cellophane square. Pull the corners up to the center top of the basket and tie the corners together with sting or a twist-tie. Cover the tie with ribbon and a bow. Attach a gift card and your Christmas gift basket is ready for presentation.
