How to Make Cinnamon Oil

Things You'll Need

  • Olive oil or pure vegetable oil

  • Cinnamon sticks

  • Cheesecloth

  • Several small glass bottles or one large bottle

  1. Gather your jars and set them out on the table. If you are using old jars make sure they clean.

  2. Place as many cinnamon sticks as you can into each of the jars. It is recommended that you cram the sticks in the jars as tightly as you can.

  3. Pour the olive oil in the jars making sure that it completely covers the cinnamon sticks. If you do not have any olive oil you can substitute it with pure vegetable oil.

  4. Screw the lid on the jar and place the jar in a warm spot and leave it there for at least three weeks. A windowsill that has access to directly sunlight would be the perfect location.

  5. Shake the jar vigorously at least twice a day, which will help to release the oils in the cinnamon and mix it with the base oil.

  6. Remove the tops from the jars after the three weeks has passed and use your fingers to pull the cinnamon sticks out or you can use a piece of cheesecloth to strain the oil from the jar.

  7. Transfer the cinnamon oil to amber colored jars and store them in a cool dark place until ready to use.
