How to Make Coin Purses

Making your own coin purses is a great way to add a little personal flair to your otherwise mundane over-sized bag. Being able to quickly pull all of your coins or cards out of your bag at one time is a huge time-saver when you are in a rush to pay.

  1. Decide on how many coin purses you would like to make as well as what sort of style you would like them to have. Because coin purses are so very easy and quick to make, you may want to consider whipping up a few at a time so you can alternate between them depending on your mood or your bag choice that day.

  2. Use your metal snap purse frame as your measuring guide. If you have a purse frame that you will be repurposing or one that you have bought brand new, you will need to use that as your size guide. Lay your purse frame down on a white piece of paper so you can trace around it and then draw out your coin purse pattern.

  3. Pin your pattern to the fabric so you can cut without the pattern moving around on you. You will need to cut four pieces of fabric total, one set for the inside lining, and one set for the outside of the purse.

  4. Sew all the pieces together starting from the bottom and working your way up the sides. Be sure and leave ample space at the top for you to attach the coin purse frame.

  5. Turn your pouch right-side out and attach the frame. Depending on the frame you've chosen, you may either sew it on or use a hot glue gun to secure it in place.
