How to Make Corn Dough Carp Fishing Bait

Carp bait can be bought at tackle shops, or you can learn how to make corn dough carp fishing bait yourself. This bait recipe is simple to make and uses very few ingredients. If you don't use all the bait at one time, it can be refrigerated for up to three weeks. However, you don't want to freeze the bait, because it will turn hard and crumbly.

Supplies

  • Cracked Corn

  • Measuring Cup

  • Microwave-Safe Casserole Dish

  • Vanilla Extract

  • Water

  • Spoon

  • Microwave Oven

  • Plastic Bucket with Lid

  • Corn Pops Cereal

Instructions

  1. Pour some cracked corn into the measuring cup and measure out 2 cups.

  2. Place the cracked corn into the microwave safe casserole dish.

  3. Measure 8 ounces of vanilla extract and place this into the casserole dish with the cracked corn.

  4. Pour water over the cracked corn until the corn is covered.

  5. Stir the corn, vanilla and water with a spoon.

  6. Place the casserole dish in the microwave oven.

  7. Set the timer on the microwave to 25 minutes and start the microwave.

  8. Check the corn kernels after 25 minutes. The kernels should be slightly soft. If the kernels aren't starting to soften, cook an additional 5 minutes. Use caution when checking the kernels, as this mixture will be hot.

  9. Remove the mixture from the microwave oven and slightly stir with a spoon.

  10. Place the mixture into the plastic bucket and place the lid on the bucket.

  11. Wait at least one hour before using this mixture as bait. As the mixture sets, it will become doughy and easy to handle.

  12. Go to your favorite fishing spot and bring along the bucket that contains the corn dough mixture.

  13. Place two pieces of dry corn pops cereal on your fishing hook. Grab a handful of the corn mixture and form a dough ball tightly around the corn pops.

  14. Begin fishing with the corn dough carp bait.
