How to Make Fragrance Oil With DPG
Dipropylene glycol (DPG) is a carrier oil used to dilute fragrance oils for personal use which allows you to make more fragrance oil from a smaller amount. Cutting fragrance oils with DPG lets you make scents for potpourri, perfume or oil burners.
DPG is a good choice to cut expensive fragrance oils because it is colorless, has a low odor, water-soluble and has a low volatility. DPG can be purchased on the Internet from stores that sell cosmetic and toiletry supplies or fragrance oils. DPG can be used for both fragrance oils and essential oils. It is soluble in both water an oil, so it is an excellent carrier when you are mixing the resulting fragrance oil with other ingredients.
