How to Safely Use a Fragrance Oil Warmer
Oil warmers are a great way to add a pleasant scent to your home. They can be plugged into electric or used with a tea light to heat the oil. As the oil is heated, the scent is spread around the room or house. It is important to be safe while using fragrance oil warmers.
- Determine the type of oil warmer you would like to use. There are electric types and there are types that heat the oil by using a smaller candle’s flame such as a tea light candle underneath a pot of oil to heat it.
- Be sure that the area your oil warmer is at is free of anything that could catch fire and also out of the way so that it would not be knocked over easily.
- Make sure your fragrant oil warmer is out of reach of children. The candle flame and hot oil are always a burn risk for children.
- Read the instructions that are usually provided with your oil warmer. This should tell you what type of oil to use and how much oil you should pour into the dish. If you cannot find this information then just fill your warmer dish approximately half way full with the scented oil of your choice.
- Choose an unscented tea light and place underneath your oil warmer in the candleholder provided.
- Light the tea light carefully.
- Do not leave your oil warmer unattended and do not leave the tea light lit while you are asleep. Check it regularly to make sure there is no smoke and the warmer has plenty of oil to avoid a fire hazard.
- Blow out your candle when you are finished using the oil warmer
