- Choose a low-chemical fertilizer if you prefer to avoid harsh chemicals. Make organic fertilizer by pouring 12 ounces of cola, 8 ounces of apple juice and 12 ounces of beer into a pitcher. Mix the ingredients together well.
- Use a funnel or spouted pitcher to pour your preferred mixture into a fertilizer spray distributor that attaches to your hose. Attach the sprayer to your hose nozzle and turn on the water.
- Wear a mask if you choose to use the fertilizer with ammonia and soaps to protect yourself from chemical inhalation.
- Start at the back of the yard and disperse an even amount of fertilizer across your entire lawn. Work your way toward the house until you reach the front yard. Walk away from the direction of the spray at all times to avoid inhaling or spraying yourself with the fertilizer.
