How to Make Mini First Aid Kits
A mini first aid kit provides everything you need to treat minor ailments, but small enough to fit in a pocket or purse. Create a kit for when you are on the go or to keep in your car so you aren't caught unprepared during a minor emergency.
Select a container for the
first aid items. Use something waterproof if moisture is a concern, or place the items in a sealed plastic bag before placing them in a
non-waterproof container. Zipper pouches, fabric bags and small
plastic food storage containers work well for mini first aid kits.
Use a film canister or travel sewing kit case for an exceptionally
small kit.Add basic first aid
supplies. Bandages of assorted sizes, antiseptic
wipes, burn ointment and a sample-size bottle of hand sanitizer all address minor injuries.Include items specific to
your situation, such as a miniature eyeglass repair kit, extra
prescription medications or an Epipen shot for an allergic reaction.Print first aid reminders
and procedures on a sheet of paper. Include emergency contact
numbers, such as the numbers for poison control and local
emergency services. Add reminders on treating burns, cuts and other
injuries as necessary. Laminate the paper before folding it to fit
into the mini kit.Write your name, address
and phone number on the inside of the kit with a permanent marker.
Include information on any health conditions and necessary
medication. Alternatively, write the information on a small card and
store it in the kit. This information is vital if emergency services
are needed and you are unable to communicate.
