How to Make Pebble Pools

Pebble pools can make a great addition to any home or office landscape. They offer a beautiful connection with water, rock and nature. With a few supplies from your hardware store and a little knowledge, you can create your own pebble pool. Here’s how:

  1. Purchase supplies at your local Home Depot, Lowe’s or other hardware supply store. Be sure to get a preformed water garden pond, water pump, pebbles and a rubber liner.

  2. Dig out a hole in your landscape where the preformed pond will fit.

  3. Put the rubber liner over the hole and area where the pebble pool will be located. This liner will prevent weed and foliage growth.

  4. Place the pond in the hole.

  5. Following the instructions with the water pump, install the pump in the pond. Some pumps will need to be fitted below the preformed pond. Read the instructions before installing the pump you purchased.

  6. Fill the bottom of the pond with the pebbles. You may want to surround the pond with larger rocks or the same pebbles in the pond, depending on the style you desire.

  7. Pebbles will settle into place over time. There is no need to secure the pebbles with glue or other adhesive.

  8. Some people want pebbles along the sides of the pond. This requires water-proof epoxy. It takes time to epoxy each pebble to the side; however, the pool will have a unique design when completed.
