How to Make Personalized Labels for Candy Bars
A personalized label for a candy bar is a popular way to add a decorative flair to a common gift idea for weddings and birthday parties. There are various companies who will design, print and ship the candy bars with the personalized labels directly to your home. However, if this is a service you can't afford consider printing them at home.
What You'll Need:
- Cloth measuring tape
- Microsoft Word
- Letter opener
- Glue
- Measure the width of the candy bar you wish to create labels for using cloth measuring tape. Add about 1/2 inch to the width measurement to allow space for overlapping the label. Next, measure the length of the candy bar, but this time subtract 1/2 inch so there is 1/4 less on both ends.
- Open the Microsoft Word software program and create a new document. Under the "File" menu, select "Page Setup" and then "Custom". Insert the measurements you just took in this field. Click "OK". Under the "Page Setup" menu change your page layout to orientation and change all the margins to 0.5 inches.
- Create a border to reference later as a cut line.
- Type whatever text you would like to appear on your personalized candy bar label such as "Happy Birthday" or "Congratulations".
- Insert any pictures or clip art you'd like to make your label look more creative. If it's for a birthday, consider balloons or candles. Whereas if its for the birth of a baby, consider adding pacifiers, diapers or bottles. Once your satisfied with your design, save the file and begin printing the quantity you need.
- Remove the original wrapper from the candy bar using a letter opener. Carefully complete this step so that you don't disturb the foil wrapper underneath.
- Take the printed label and begin cutting around the border with a steady hand. Wrap the new label around the candy bar and glue the ends together firmly.
