How to Make Pet Loss Cards

Pet loss cards are greetings cards used to send condolences to people who have suffered the loss of a beloved pet.  Sending a pet loss card to a grieving friend or family member can be a great way to cheer them up and show your sympathy.  You can make a pet loss card by using paper or a computer depending on whether you want to send a traditional card or an electronic card.

  1. Choose a template.  If you are using paper, you can determine the size of your template by thinking about how much text you want to include.  You can make a large card template by folding over a piece of paper or a small one by using a notecard.  Use tough paper such as construction paper.  If you are using a computer, you can design a unique card using a graphics editing program.  Simply open up a new blank slide, and begin working.

  2. Compose a message.  The message is the most important part of the card.  You can make the message humorous without being inappropriate by retelling stories and anecdotes about your interactions with the pet.  This can be a great way to remind the owner about his life rather than death.  You can also take a different approach, and write a heartfelt poem or letter.  You know the recipient the best, so think of words they’d like to hear in this time of need.

  3. Include an image.  If you are making a traditional paper card, glue a photograph or a printed image downloaded from the Internet.  You can even design the front of the card using art supplies if you are artistically inclined.  If you are using a graphics editing software, use its features to past a picture or a graphic onto the card.
