How to Make Prom Tuxedos for Men

How to Make Prom Tuxedos

Prom is an extremely formal event held near the end of the school year at most of the high schools. The men that attend prom usually wear tuxedos and the women wear formal evening gowns. You can make your own tuxedo and design it how you would like it to be.

Materials needed:

  • Patterns

  • Fabric

  • Thread

  • Buttons

  • Zipper

  • Scissors

  • Pins

  • Sewing Machine

  1. Figure out what type of pattern you would like to have for your tuxedo. You can find patterns at local craft shops or at a store online. To get some ideas, you can go to a formal men's wear shop. Remember that you might have to find all of the tuxedo pieces in one pattern.

  2. Go to a craft supply store and buy all of the materials and the fabric that you have selected that you are going to need to make your tuxedo.

  3. Take out all of the pieces from the pattern packaging and cut along the solid edges of the pattern. Make certain that you cut the pattern to match the size that you wear. When you have finished cutting, smooth out all of the wrinkles.

  4. Position the pattern cutouts on the fabric pieces. Pin these two together. Position all of the fabric before you start cutting to make sure that you have all of the fabric that you are going to need.

  5. Cut out the fabric. Follow the edges of the paper pattern as a guide. Leave the paper pattern attached to the fabric. This will help you to not get confused with the different cutouts.

  6. Complete your tuxedo by following the sewing instructions that came with your packaging.
