How to Make Shower Curtains

Shower curtains in your bathroom are essential so that you do not get the bathroom wet every time you shower. Sometimes, you can't find a shower curtain that you like that matches the rest of your bathroom decor so it is just easier to make one.

  1. Measure the space from wall to wall within your shower stall. You want to measure from the shower rod to the floor as well. This is the total dimension that you will want for your shower curtain.

  2. Go to a craft store and choose a fabric that you like for your bathroom shower curtain. Make sure that whatever you select will fit within the dimensions that you need. Be sure to purchase a quarter yard extra to sew a hem and create a place to hang your curtain.

  3. Go to a bath store or hardware store and purchase a set of shower hooks.

  4. Using a sewing machine, sew a one-inch hem on the bottom of the curtain. You want your hem to be as straight as possible. Create a one-inch hem at the top of the shower curtain as well.

  5.  Cut holes for all of your shower hooks. Using a button stitch and create a nice hem around each hole. This will keep the fabric from tearing. Once the curtain is finished, hang it on shower hooks. Because the curtain is made of fabric, you will want to keep it on the outside of the tub. Wash it frequently to prevent molding and mildew scent.
