How to Make Your Own Glass Window Cleaner

When it comes time to clean and wash those windows, one will find that there are many window cleaning products available on the market today.  While these products work great, many people prefer to make their own window and glass cleaner.  The following are some recipes to learn how to make your own glass window cleaner.

Recipe #1:  Vinegar and Water Cleaner

  • 1 cup of white vinegar

  • 1 cup of water

  • 1-2 drops of dish detergent (optional)

Combine the white vinegar and water in a spray bottle and mix well.  This solution works well for cleaning windows without commercial glass cleaner residue.  Adding a drop of liquid dish detergent to the solution will help with removing residue buildup.  Vinegar works well because it removes oil and grease from the glass and prevents windows from fogging up.

Recipe #2: Alcohol, Water and Vinegar Cleaner

  • 1 cup of isopropyl rubbing alcohol

  • 1 cup of water

  • 1 Tablespoon of white vinegar

Combine the rubbing alcohol, water and white vinegar in a spray bottle and mix well.  Rubbing alcohol acts as a good window cleaner because it evaporates quickly without leaving any streaks behind.

Recipe #3: Alcohol, Water and Ammonia Cleaner

  • 1 cup of isopropyl rubbing alcohol

  • 1 cup of water

  • 1 Tablespoon of clear ammonia

Combine the rubbing alcohol, water and ammonia into a spray bottle and mix well.

Tips:

1.  Avoid cleaning windows when the sun is shining on them.

2.  Use newspaper to clean the windows.

3.  Vinegar will help to remove decals or stickers from windows.
