How to Make a Classic Ice Cream Parlor Banana Split

If you've ever spent time inside a ice cream parlor, you probably have fond memories of devouring delicious treats with family and friends. If you want to recapture that feeling at home, you can re-create the classic ice cream parlor banana split flavor.

Items needed:

  • A banana split dish

  • 1 banana

  • Vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream

  • Pineapple topping

  • Chocolate syrup

  • Strawberry topping

  • Crushed nuts

  • Whipped cream

  • Maraschino cherries

  • A knife and a spoon

  1. Peel your banana and cut it in half length-wise. Place your banana halves in your dish, leaving enough room between the two halves to add toppings.

  2. Place one scoop of strawberry ice cream in the middle of the dish. Add one scoop of vanilla ice cream on one side of the strawberry scoop, and one scoop of chocolate ice cream on the opposite end.

  3. Add one spoonful of strawberry topping to the top of the strawberry ice cream. Drizzle chocolate syrup on top of the chocolate scoop, and add a spoonful of pineapple topping to the vanilla scoop.

  4. Cover the entire dish with a layer of whipped cream. Use a little or a lot, depending on your preference.

  5. Sprinkle crushed nuts on top of the whipped cream. You can use peanuts, walnuts, or another preferred nut variety.

  6. Place one maraschino cherry in the exact center of the dish to finish your elaborate ice cream concoction.

  7. Place a spoon along the edge of the dish and serve immediately to prevent melting.
