How to Make a Fishing Pole
If you enjoy fishing, you do not need to have an expensive fishing pole to make the sport enjoyable. Several people find the sport just as enjoyable using a homemade fishing pole. Many of them think that fishing with a bamboo pole is better than using a pole purchased from the store.
How to Make a Fishing Pole
Find a bamboo pole that is approximately eight to ten feet in length and 3/4" or larger at the base. Try to find golden bamboo if possible and make sure that it is dry.
If the bamboo is not dry, hang it under the eave of the house. Try to keep it as straight as possible and away from any type of moisture.
When it is completely dry, lightly sand it with fine sandpaper.
Apply 2 coats of varnish to the pole.
Attach fishing line to the tip of the pole. The line should be a few inches shorter than the pole.
Tie a hook to the end of the line.
Attach a small split shot on the line a few inches from the hook.
Attach a sliding float directly above the split shot.
