How to Make a Model Paddle Boat

There are great memories that come out of the enjoyment you experience with paddle boats. You can share these memories with your kids by simply making your own paddle boat. You can make one or many. If you make more than one, you can have paddle boat races.

Materials needed:

  • Plywood

  • Saw

  • Rubber band

  • Compass

  • Wood glue

  • Pencil

  • Ruler

  • Scrap wood

  1. Set the compass that you have to four inches. In the long side of the plywood, push the point of the compass. The compass should be four inches away from the end of the plywood. Draw an arc that is going toward the end that is the closest. Push the point of the compass into the other side of the plywood and repeat this process.

  2. Measure one half of an inch from each side on the other end of the plywood. On each mark, draw a line that runs 3.5 inches vertical. Join the line with a horizontal line.

  3. Cut all of the lines that you have just finished drawing. Sand the completed piece. Put the dowel vertically on the deck of the boat. This is going to make funnels and the scrap pieces of wood are going to be used to construct the pilot house.

  4. Cut the quarter inch board in half. This is going to make two pieces that are three inches by two and a half inches. Cut out a quarter inch slot in the middle of the long side of each piece of plywood one and a fourth inches long. Glue and allow time to dry.

  5. Paint the boat how you would like it to look.

  6. Put the rubber band around the center of the X shape that you have just created. Center the X shape between the two pieces from the back of the body of the boar. Put the rubber band over both of the two pieces. Twist the X. This is now the paddle.

  7. Put the paddle boat in the water.
