How to Make a Website Wave Animation

We are in the technology era and millions of websites exist. If you want your website to get attention, you will need to design it with additional features. Many options are too expensive, complex or time consuming to add. However, one feature that is free, fast and easy to add is wave animation.

  1. Open a picture on your computer with a program called GIMP. This is a program that is very similar to another program named Photoshop. The difference is that GIMP is free and Photoshop can be very expensive to purchase.

  2. Select the "filters" menu at the top of the screen.

  3. Select "animation" and then open the waves menu. A window will open that gives you complete access to choose how the document will wave.

  4. Choose the frames option you would like. This will determine the amount of time that your animation will wave. If you would like the animation to run more than once, choose the loop option. Next, choose the amplitude and the wavelength. The amplitude is the height of the wave and the wavelength is the length.

  5. Press the play button at the bottom of the screen. View how the animation runs and determine if you want to adjust anything. If you are not happy with the results, follow steps 4, 5 and 6 again. Continue to follow the steps until you are pleased with the waving animation that you have created.

  6. Save the animated image as a GIF file and choose where you would like to save it. Some designers will save it on their computer while others will use external drives in order to never lose the image if their computer malfunctions. Click "export" and the image will be completed, saved and ready to use on your website.
