How to Make an RC Boat

A remote-controlled (RC) boat provides you with not only a hobby to do with the finished product, but an activity to complete prior to using the boat. In order to make an RC boat, you must follow a systematic process. This ensures that your boat is constructed correctly and will work how it should.

Supply List

  • RC boat kit

  • Paint

  • Airbrush

  • Screwdriver

  • Towel

  • Industrial adhesive

  • Knife

  • Pliers

  1. Purchase a kit that comes with all the parts required to assemble the finished product. If you are new to assembling RC vehicles, purchase something simple.

  2. Read the instruction that came with your device. Make sure you read them carefully, so you understand all the tools you need to complete the project.

  3. Clear off a space to work. A workbench might seem the most practical; however, you will have to stand there for a prolonged period of time, so may want to consider working at a dining room table.

  4. Place a towel down, preferably made of terry cloth to protect the device.

  5. Collect the tools you need to complete the project, such as a screwdriver, a knife and industrial glue.

  6. Follow the instruction manual's steps. Make sure you follow each and every step in the order in which it tells you. Every kit is different, so just because you have made an RC vehicle in the past, does not mean you do not have to use the instructions.

  7. Ask someone for help online via the manufacturer or someone you know who is familiar with building RC vehicles, if you experience any problems or do not understand a step.

  8. Decide if you want to paint your boat before you complete the entire boat. Paint your project using an airbrush to benefit from the sleeker look and faster painting time.
