How to Mend a Fishing Net
If your fishing net has accidentally become torn, you can repair your fishing net so that you do not have to spend the money on a new one. All you need to repair your damaged fishing net is a needle and thread to patch the torn area. Your fishing net will be as good as new in no time at all.
- Locate the torn area of the fishing net, and cut off any loose strings or edges so that you have a clean area to mend.
- Check to ensure that the existing structure of the surrounding area is intact and strong enough to hold the net once mended. If the area around the tear is compromised, use a pair of standard household scissors to cut away any damaged material.
- Purchase twine or thick durable thread to use for mending your damaged fishing net. You can purchase this product from your local fish and tackle store or from a hobby and craft store in your area.
- Thread your needle using the twine or thread that you purchased. If you are having trouble threading the needle you can use a needle threader to assist you in threading your needle.
- Sew the area that is damaged together using your needle and twine or thread, which ever you purchased. Be sure to stitch the area closely so that you do not leave any small openings that will compromise the functionality of the fishing net. You can go over the area more than once to reinforce the net.
- Tie a knot in the thread when you are done patching the net, and then cut the end of the twine or thread as close to the knot as possible so that you do not have any loose strings hanging.
- Check the patch to ensure that you have thoroughly mended the net to perfect working condition.
