How to Name a Painting Business

Naming a painting business is much like naming a child.  This is because names have connections with the subconscious.  For this reason you will want to be sure that your choice does not create any negative connotations.  However, this doesn’t need to be a daunting task.

Things That You Will Need

  • A dictionary

  • Painting publications

  • A computer

  • A pencil

  • Some paper

  1. Decide upon what you would like to have your company’s name convey to those who hear it for the very first time.  This could be the idea of creativity, color,  freshness  or anything else that you would like.

  2. Think of some innovative words that do not use the word “painting” in them.

  3. Try to be both distinctive and original.

  4. Consider names that convey the meaning that you would like to have behind your company.

  5. Write down any ideas that you come up with on a piece of paper.

  6. Use a dictionary and painting publications to help you brainstorm some names.

  7. Run your list of names past your friends and family to get their opinions.

  8. Say each of the names aloud to yourself so that you can see how they sound.  Imagine other people referencing your business by these names.

  9. Narrow down your choices.

  10. Doodle some logos for the name selections that have made it to the top of your list.

  11. Choose the logo and the name that appeal to you the most.  This will be what you will use for future signage, business cards, brochures and stationary.
