How to Open the Hood on a Mitsubishi Endeavor
The Mitsubishi Endeavor is a comfortable, midsize SUV that offers enough room for five people to sit comfortably without squeezing together, unlike other sport utility vehicles. As with any other vehicle, there will be times when you will want to check the oil, engine fluids and insure that your Mitsubishi Endeavor is in good condition, and it all starts with opening the hood.
1. Look underneath the dashboard on the driver’s side of your Mitsubishi Endeavor and you will find the hood release lever. The hood release lever will have a raised hood icon on it. Pull it gently and you will see your hood pop open about half an inch.
2. Go outside and walk in front of your vehicle. Stick your hand gently underneath the front of the hood and you will find the lever for releasing the hood. This lever is where the front of your hood meets the body of the Endeavor. If you can’t see the lever right away, you should use a flash light to find it. Once you locate the lever, just lift it up.
3. Raise your hood, grab your hood prop (long piece of thin black metal) then attach it to its mount on the hood. This step will enable you to work safely on your engine without having to use a piece of wood to prop the hood and risk having the hood potentially come crashing down on your head or fingers.
4. When you’re doing working in your engine, replace the hood prop in its place and then gently lower (don’t drop it) the hood down to the Endeavor's body. Once the hood is in place, gently push the hood down so it locks.
