How to Operate Honda Motorcycles
Most people don't realize how dangerous it is to operate Honda motorcycles. It isn't hard to operate Honda motorcycles, but you definitely need practice before riding on the roads. Operating a vehicle with two wheels instead of four will have a much different feeling at first.
Things You'll Need:
- Helmet
- Long Pants
- Shoes
- Purchase the necessary safety equipment. Make sure you have a comfortable helmet that also protects your eyes. A lot of older helmets cover your head, but are open faced. Make sure you invest in a quality new helmet with a windshield. You should also consider wearing long pants with shoes that cover your ankles. You can easily burn your legs from the engine and exhaust on a Honda Motorcycle.
- Practice using the hand controls. The clutch on a Honda motorcycle is on the left side and the front brake is on the right side of the handlebar. You engage the throttle by twisting the right handgrip towards your body.
- Practice the foot controls. The gearshift on Honda motorcycles should be near the left foot peg. The brake lever will be right next to the right foot peg.
- Turn the bike on by inserting the key, turning it to the start position and pressing the big red button on the top of the right handlebar.
- Start the bike by pressing the small black button on the right handlebar. Make sure the bike is in neutral by pulling up on the shift lever. You'll know when it's in neutral when the bike rolls freely. If it’s still in gear, the bike will stop after you start rolling it a few inches.
