How to Organize Garden Tools
Organization can a useful skill to maintain. This process can make things easier and more efficient. Organizing garden tools can make a gardener's tasks seem quicker and easier because he or she does not have to spend so much time looking for a certain tool. It only takes a little while to organize the tools.
1. Start with an unoccupied location. You want to clean the shed or area in which you will be storing your garden tools. Remove everything from the location in order to have a blank area to begin your organization process, and make a great functioning garden tool storage facility.
2. Separate the tools into categories. There are several types of garden tools, including power tools, watering tools, handled tools and more. Put your tools into piles according to the category in which they each belong.
3. Assign a special place. Every category should have its designated place in the storage facility. Within that designated place, each tool should have a certain location as well. It is wise to label these places. This will make it easier for you to remember and for others to know where each item should be returned.
4. Place the tools in designated areas. Put each tool in the place in which you determined to be its own place. Some things may go in drawers; in that case it will be a little less work.
5. Hang tools if possible. Things like shovels and hoes should be hung on the wall if at all possible. There are hangers that can be purchased at hardware store for this task. This opens up space, and it makes the storage location look neater.
6. Return tools back to storage. Always bring the tools back to the storage after using them. Be sure to place in its proper location, and you will maintain an organized garden tool storage area.
7. Do not allow non-related tools into this storage area. There are times when a tool is used in the garden that is not necessarily a garden tool. Do not place this in the garden storage area, as this will clutter up the area.
8. Keep clean tools. Clean your tools before returning to storage area. This will keep you facility clean and neat. If you make this a routine, it will encourage the prompt return of tools to their correct location.
