How to Paint Paper Bridal Flowers
Paper flowers are stunning. These beautiful and allergy friendly bouquets can be made with colored paper. If you want to add a bit of detail to your paper flowers, consider sitting down with paint and a brush to add subtle hints of deeper color and texture.
You can choose to paint the flowers before you assemble them. This will give you room for error and plenty of time to dry. It may be harder to get the detail just right if you have never done this before. Practice on sheets of paper and pay attention to your samples.
Supplies
- Watercolors
- Paint brush
- Cup of water
- Sample of flower, either a picture or real flower
- Paper flowers with assembled or ready to assemble
Directions
- Start with the center of the paper flower and work your way out.
- Observe you sample closely and carefully paint your interpretation of what you see. Remember this need not be perfect.
- Finish off with the edges of the flower and allow drying.
The use of watercolors allows for a more diluted look when you want the colors to gently fade. You could, however, purchase other types of paint and possibly achieve a similar look. Visit your local art store for more ideas and possible products to give you a more realistic look and texture to the petals.
Paper flowers are a wonderful addition to wedding and shower décor; they are also great for giving as gifts to those who cannot be around real flowers.
