How to Paint a Bedroom Mural
Creating a mural on a bedroom wall can transform a dull room into a work of art. Even individuals who lack artistic abilities can create these colorful, large-scale works of art with a few tips and tricks and the right materials.
Items Needed:
- Acrylic paint
- Various sizes of paintbrushes
- Drop cloth
- Water for brush cleaning
- Graphing paper
- A pencil
- A projector and transparency film (optional)
- Look at other murals to come up with an idea for the mural. Looking at existing murals can provide insight on the techniques used and how they differ from painting on a smaller scale.
- Sketch out the design on paper. Use graphing paper and utilize the squares to create a small-scale model of the mural design. Establish a scale of one foot of wall space to one inch of paper. This will help you visualize the finished product and make any alterations before beginning.
- Freehand draw the design on the wall using a pencil or take your drawing to a copying store to have it converted to a transparency sheet. Use the transparency sheet on a projector screen to project the outline, making it easy to draw the design exactly as planned.
- Gather the painting supplies and lay a drop cloth on the floor. Begin by painting the largest sections with a large brush. Use a smaller brush to create lines and shading and a detailing brush to add the final details of the mural.
- Add a second coat of paint where it is needed.
