How to Pass a Background Check
A background check allows an employer know what type of employee he may hire. Passing a background check is critical in obtaining employment, as it shows your potential employer that you are a person of character. Pass a background check by reviewing your personal records from several organizations and addressing what needs to be addressed.
- Obtain a copy of your credit report to see if anything needs removing. Make sure that you request all three of your credit reports since one report may show negative items that you may not know of. Inaccurate information on your credit file can hurt your chances of obtaining employment, especially if you are seeking employment in the financial field.
- Go to the courthouse to have a background check done on you. Pay the fee and wait a few days to receive the report. Finding out ahead of time if any negative reports show on your record can save yourself some time instead of guessing if you have a bad record. Rectify any issues on your record with the court.
- Contact the Department of Motor Vehicles in your area to obtain a copy of your driving record. You should find out if anything on your driving record will cost you the job, especially if the job requires you to drive.
- Wait for the letter from the company stating if you failed or passed the background check. Read the letter completely since you could still obtain the job if you explain your situation. Explain to the employer your situation and tell the truth. Employers prefer to hire honest employees.
