How to Pass the CFP
The CFP exam is the exam that allows students to qualify to become certified financial planners. The CFP exam is an extensive, 10-hour long exam. It is imperative that you take the time to study and prepare for the CFP in order to pass this important exam.
- Enroll in a program to study financial planning. Many colleges and learning institutions offer courses of study in financial planning. Find the ideal school for your situation and enroll in the study program. Complete the required classes and dedicate your time and effort to learning and studying all that there is to know about financial planning.
- Take a CFP exam review course. Many colleges and universities, as well as independent companies, offer CFP exam review courses. These courses are often taught over the course of a few weeks to a month. They aim to help students review the content that they have learned, understand how to approach the CFP exam and give tips and tricks on how to effectively answer the questions that will be encountered on the exam.
- Create a study group. Keep the group small and manageable. Plan consistent study dates and help each other to review the financial planning information and course materials.
- Take as many practice exams as possible. While the real CFP exam lasts 10 hours, practice exams are much shorter. You can complete practice exams within your study group or at home on your free time. If the preparation course is offering practice exams, consider completing one as well. Working on a practice exam in a formal environment might put your knowledge to the test.
- Be prepared for exam day. Get plenty of sleep and eat a good breakfast. Dress comfortably. Bring two calculators and extra batteries, as well as a few replacement pencils and erasers.
