How to Photograph Model Planes
If you will be photographing model planes then you should do it in a way that makes the model look as good as possible. Make sure to set your plane on a stand to elevate it and place it in an area that is clear of other objects. Think about taking pictures of the model outside as well to get photos that look like the plane is flying.
- Place your model plane on a stand or other elevated surface to allow photographs to be taken of the entire area of the plane. Take many photographs and experiment with different angles to get photos that are interesting and exciting.
- Photograph model planes outside to make them look like they are flying. This can be done by using a string or piece of fishing line to hang the model in the air. Hang the plane from a low hanging tree branch and photograph your model plane at an angle where you can see the sky behind the plane.
- Use backdrops to place in back of your model to create a blank surface. This will provide a professional look allowing you to photograph your plane without other items appearing in the background. Use a bed sheet or large piece of paper to create the backdrop so that the area is one solid color.
- Use a tripod to photograph your model plane if you notice that pictures are not as clear and sharp as you want. A tripod will steady your camera so that photos can be taken without any blurring.
- Use natural lighting if possible to capture images of your model plane. Natural lighting will make the model look the best and cut down on deep shadowing that can be cast with a flash. If there is not enough light in the area where you are taking pictures use soft lighting by placing lamps near your plane for extra light.
