How to Pick a Massage School

You can make great money and help others by becoming a massage therapist. However, it's not as easy as some people might think to get into this profession. It takes hours of training and the ability to pass a licensing exam.

  1. Find an accredited massage therapy school. Massage therapy has become a very popular field to get into. For this reason there are more massage therapy programs than ever. There are 40 states which allow people to practice massage therapy, and there are about 300 accredited schools.

  2. Look for a massage therapy school with a good reputation. Even though every accredited school gives you the same opportunity to become a massage therapist, some can be a better choice when it comes to education. No matter what massage therapy school you attend you will need to pass the licensing exam in order to legally become a massage therapist.

  3. Make sure the massage therapy school's classes will fit your schedule. Many schools have programs that allow you to work around your schedule. If you have a full time job or other obligations you will need this type of school.

  4. Ask the massage therapy schools you are interested in about financial aid programs. Massage therapy programs tend to be pretty expensive, so if you can't afford to pay for it, that doesn't necessarily mean you can't go.

  5. Visit the schools you are interested in. Going to the massage therapy school to see exactly what it has to offer will help you make a finial decision on which school you want to attend.
