How to Plan House Windows

Windows that are not placed correctly in a house can ruin the look and feel of the home. Sometimes a room might have too many windows or it may have a window that is too small and looks awkward. A window can be placed to far to one side or to high in the room. Properly positioning windows will make a house look and feel more pleasing.

  Determine if the house plans have enough windows. Look to see if the windows are evenly placed throughout the house. Spacing is a concern with windows. Windows should not be placed too close together or too far apart. The windows should bring balance to the house. There should not be too many windows. At the same time, there should not be too few windows.

  Make sure that windows are not being used to replace things such as cabinets. There are times when builders will put windows in place of things when they really should not. Doing this will give a house an unbalanced look and feel.

  Evaluate each room from the inside and outside. When observed from the inside, a window may look like it is in the right place, but when it is seen from the outside, the window may seem out of place.   Make sure that the windows are large enough. Sometime builders will design windows that are just too small. This often happens where bathrooms are concerned. Check to make sure that the window for the bathroom is the right size and in the right place.
