How to Promote Tournaments for Mini Golf Courses
Planning a tournament is one method to bringing attention to your miniature golf course. In addition to coming up with the idea to have tournaments, you must also promote the events in order to ensure that people will show up to participate.
- Throw a grand opening event at your miniature golf course. Make sure to put up flyers at all of the local areas, including schools and daycares. You will need to provide refreshments and have staff available to assist with anything you need to have done. By throwing a larger event, you can choose to have people sign up ahead of time for a tournament at the actual event, or you can opt to promote the tournament once people show up.
- List the prize for the event under the “free” section of the classified section for your area. Everyone loves free things, so list the prize as a free giveaway to the winner and runner ups of the tournament. Under the prize, you will list details, including the location, date and contact information to sign up. This also promotes word-of-mouth, or referral, marketing.
- Show up at other sporting events. You do not have to necessarily find another miniature golf course, because many people who play sports often know others who are interested in miniature golf if they are not interested themselves. Pass out flyers at these events that include the date and contact information so anyone who is interested can sign up. Additionally, if the event is large enough, consider renting a booth and promoting your tournament there. This allows people to sign up and pay the fee onsite.
