How to Properly Ghost Hunt

Many people believe that ghosts are real. There is the myth that spirits, ghosts or celestial beings are physically surrounding us. If you want to ghost hunt, then you will need the right equipment and a location with a lot of paranormal activity. Nonbelievers usually have a different opinion after going on a ghost hunt.

  1. Establish a group of people interested in ghost hunting. Establish a group of no more than four people because too many can take the focus from looking for spirits. Inviting too many people to the hunt can contaminate the evidence, too. Choose people who have an interest in paranormal activity and serious about ghost hunting. If not, the person could contaminate evidence and overshadow any activity.

  2. Get the right equipment. A digital voice recorder is very important when ghost hunting. A spirit communicates through EVP’s, or, electronic voice phenomenon. A digital camera is another valuable piece of equipment which can be used for capturing images of ghosts. The belief of orbs is a controversial subject but they can be captured in pictures. Taking pictures is a way of documenting your hunt and provides evidence. You will also need a temperature gauge. Many spirits can manifest by pulling energy from a room. When this is occurring, the temperature will drop and the room will feel cool. Another tool that will come in handy is the EMF meter. An EMF meter is for detecting electromagnetic fields and allows you to locate spirits. Video cameras are great for documenting and capturing EVP’s.

  3. Research the location for the ghost hunt. It is important to know about the history of the location, any paranormal incidents and the ghost that frequents the location.

  4. Get permission to hunt on the property. If the property is privately owned, then you will need the owner’s permission. You might want to check the location for dangerous spots or ask the owner questions about any traps on the property.

  5. Select a time for the ghost hunt. Most ghost activity occurs at night but it is possible to see them in the day. Ghost experts suggest the best time for seeing ghosts are at dawn or dusk.

  6. Arrive early to set up equipment. Set the camera up to capture wide areas of the location. Put a camera in every location the ghost likely to appear.

  7. Demonstrate patience and have awareness for your surroundings. Ghost hunting will require a good deal of patience because there is not a scheduled time that ghosts appear. Wait quietly and stay alert while waiting for an appearance.

  8. Keep a journal of the ghost hunt. Describe the images and sounds in the journal entry and write down the date and time of the event.

  9. Record any activity with recording devices. Tangible evidence is very important when trying to prove ghost activity. You want to leave the ghost hunt with evidence and a recoding for proof.
