How to Remove Earwax

How to Reduce Earwax Buildup Naturally

Many people find that they suffer from a lot of earwax buildup. There is no known cause for rapid wax buildup. Excessive earwax can cause pain, a ringing sound in your ears, or even hearing loss. There are some natural things that you can do in order to reduce your earwax buildup.

  • Get healthy. Although there is no known reason for excessive earwax buildup, many doctors believe that poor health habits and a bad diet can contribute to the problem. Resolve to exercise and eat healthier. This will help to improve your overall health and decrease the amount of earwax build up in your ears.

  • Avoid using Q-tips. Many people use Q-tips or cotton swabs to clean out their ears and remove ear wax. Rather than being helpful, this can help increase the amount of wax that builds up in your ears. Instead of using a cotton swab, wipe only the outside of your ear with a warm cloth. Do not insert anything into your ear canal.

  • Use a natural ear drop to help clean your ears. You can create safe and natural ear drops out of many products that you already have in your home. Olive oil has been known to help remove earwax buildup. Baby oil can also be helpful in softening and removing excessive earwax. A warm solution of vinegar, water and hydrogen peroxide can also provide relief from earwax buildup. When using any of these solutions, you should place three or four drops in your ear and then lay on your side for a few minutes to allow the drops time to work and to help drain your ears.

  • After using any of the above natural ear drops, you should take a shower and allow warm water to flow into your ear in order to help gently clean them and remove any extra earwax.
