How to Remove Hair Extension Glue
When you have a hairstyle that requires hair extensions, you can choose to either sew the extensions in or glue them in for a quick style. When removing the extensions, if you chose to use hair glue, it can be a bit tricky to remove these pieces without damaging your hair.
Things You Will Need:
- Oil
- Water
- Clarifying shampoo
- Deep conditioner
- Mix an oil and water mixture with equal parts of each. You can choose any oil you have in your kitchen, whether it is vegetable oil, canola oil or even sesame or olive oil.
- Apply the mixture onto the glued area and down the rest of your real hair so that it can easily slip off. Although this can become a bit messy, it is well worth the effort to save the health of your hair. If you do not remove the hair extensions and glue appropriately, you can cause damage to your hair.
- Allow the oil mixture to sit on your hair for 25 to 30 minutes before attempting to remove the glue.
- Slide the glue off of the hair gently. If you have a difficult time removing the glue after 30 minutes, wait another 10 to 15 minutes and try again. When the oil mixture is sitting, it is working on the attachment to your hair so that it can easily slide off.
- Wash your hair with a clarifying shampoo to ensure all of the oil is washed completely off. Follow with a deep conditioner to keep your hair in good shape.
